Video technology allows us to record traffic congestion, their origin and their durations over 24-hour periods. Cameras are strategically placed for the best points of view of all the lanes of the roadway. With multiple channels and proper placement, we can capture several directions and lanes at one time. In this example the camera was placed on an overpass.

This video is a great example of our multi-channel capability. It can be used to determine vehicle queuing and delay. This example, however, illustrates another advantage of the camera technology. Within the first 10 seconds, two pick ups run the lowering crossing arms and flashing signal lights. Our client points out that people tend to act “normally” since they do not normally notice the units, as opposed to live observers.

We act as an independent party to verify an intersection’s validity of numerous red light violations. With our multi-channel units, we have cameras pointed at the traffic signals and the corresponding limit lines of the intersection. For every red light phase, vehicles impeding the crosswalk or illegally continuing through the intersection are time stamped and recorded. This instance we have a black vehicle run the red light on the 15 second mark.

Utilizing one of our new camera units, the camera captures all the legs of the intersection and their corresponding crosswalks. Using video technology allows us to review the data guaranteeing the client the utmost certainty regarding the data. It also ensures large projects can be completed in a relatively short amount of time, preserving corridors and reducing discrepancies caused by statistical differences in daily traffic. We can also revisit any location to collect additional data such as pedestrians and classifications if requested.
